Here is a basic breakdown of the apparatus we house in station:
Engine 18-1:
1985 GMC Top Kick
Used mostly for major fire fighting and water hauling. It carries approx. 1,350 gallons of water and is capable of adapting to 3-in, 4-in, and 5-in hose lines. Being recently upgraded, the truck now carries a generator, extra hoses, and spare SCBA bottles.
Squad 18-2:
1974 Chevrolet Suburban
Used mostly for vehicle rescue and manpower transportation to other emergencies. Although this apparatus has been semi-retired since 18-4 came along, we can still use it if need be.
Rescue 18-3:
1994 GMC Top Kick 4x4
Used mostly for vehicle rescues, vehicle fires, and other light fires. This apparatus carries approx. 500 gallons of water and the majority of the Hurst vehicle rescue tools.
Brush 18-4:
2004 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4x4 Pickup
Used mostly for brush fires, vehicle accidents, and other incidentals (lift assists, odor investigations, search & rescue, etc.) The brush truck holds approx. 170 gallons of water, a 3/4" booster hose line, and a Hurst Maverick (vehicle rescue) setup for quick response. |
